What is a plantar plate tear?
Today, our lives are rather frenzied and we are frequently moving and we're also being encouraged to do more exercise. This continual activity can put a whole lot of strain on the foot. Typically we can obtain relief from standing by taking the weight off a foot that is more painful than the other foot. Sitting down can also provide prompt relief. What happens if the pain moves to the ball of the foot? How would you get relief from ball foot pain? Ball foot pain is the painful foot condition which may happen in the area just before the toes. It is also a common foot condition. Ball of foot pain impacts the bones and joints of the feet. The area which is affected is known as the metatarsal area for that reason ball of foot pain is usually called metatarsalgia or may be due to a plantar plate tear. We can easily see that the most pain happens just close to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th toes. From time to time however ball foot discomfort is isolated close to the big toe.
The main reason for ball of foot pain occurring is due to our using the incorrect kinds of footwear. Shoes that have a narrow toe area, particularly women’s shoes, causes the ball of the foot area to become restricted. This little amount of toe space can easily inhibit the walking process therefore it may also bring about severe discomfort in the front of our feet. Ball of foot pain can be painful and frequently one of the metatarsal heads (the padding ahead of the toes) will become irritated. The inflammation takes place as a result of increased strain placed on that area over a long time frame. In ball of foot pain it is common to experience acute pain as well as chronic and recurring pain. Other reasons for ball of foot pain are very high heels, high-impact sports that are done not wearing any supporting shoes and also orthotics as well. Also getting older is an additional aspect in ball of foot pain. In this case the fat pad in our feet that is near the toes become thin. This atrophy of the fat pad in the metatarsal region could also result in ball foot pain.
In order to get rid of ball of foot pain you need to know why you have the problem. Any footwear with pointy toes really should not be worn any longer. Also wearing footwear with high, wide toe spaces and a lower wedge heel decreases the force on the foot and helps ball foot pain. Alternative methods of relieving pressure to the ball of foot pain can be achieved in many different ways, especially if it is because of a plantar plate tear. There are plenty of foot care products which can be used to help relieve ball of foot pain. Orthotics which are usually meant to relieve ball of foot pain will most likely have a metatarsal pad. The orthotic is manufactured so that the metatarsal pad is put just behind the location of the metatarsal to alleviate the stress in the feet. Other pursuits that you can use are gel metatarsal pads and metatarsal strapping.
