Taking Care of Your Fridge: How to Keep Your Fridge Working Properly
To ensure that your refrigerator is long-lived and uses as little energy as possible, it needs to be cared for with care. Keep the seals around the doors clean and tight. The gasket is the rubber seal around the door which is essential for maintaining the seal and heating the air.
You must clean it regularly with an all-purpose cleaner. It's also important to carry out regular inspections and make sure the seal is working. Seals wear out over time and must be replaced with qualitative commercial refrigeration gaskets.

Usually one needs to be replaced every two to three years. If the seal doesn't work properly, warm air may enter the refrigerator or freezer and the device has to work harder to keep cool.
Defrost your device. If you have a self-defrosting device, you don't have to do anything. The refrigerator was working to defrost. You may need to clean the liquid under the droplets periodically to avoid bacterial growth or bad odors.
If this is not a self-defrost model, you will need to defrost it manually. If half an inch of frost has built up on the inner walls, remove any food, turn off the thermostat, or unplug the power cord. Let all the frost thaw and then turn it back on.
Once the temperature has dropped, put the food back in the refrigerator. Clean the interior every week. Remove spills and crumbs from shelves and walls. You can use a soft damp cloth or universal detergent.
