Crawlspace Vapor Barrier Installation

It is not difficult to install a crawlspace barrier. It's not difficult. It doesn't take long to install a quality vapor barrier or encapsulate a crawlspace.

You can purchase a crawlspace barrier at many locations. A quick search online will reveal contact information for many retailers. They offer a wide range of products, including clear plastics and coated fabrics that look like pool liners. You can also find inexpensive liners at many hardware stores and home centers. You can also look for crawlspace encapsulation tools online at d7supply.

Why Crawl Space Encapsulation

Although vapor barriers are inexpensive, they will not do the job. However, we have found that they can tear easily and don't hold in place for long. They also crack and become brittle after about four to five years.

You can also spend more upfront and get a warranty for twenty-five years. It takes less time to install woven or reinforced products than those with a shorter life span.

The question is not whether the installer is willing to spend several days in a damp crawlspace every four to five years or if they are looking to have an installation that will last for many decades and is maintenance-free. It makes more sense for me to do it right and then move on.

All products can be installed in the same way, whether they are used for encapsulating a crawl space or installing a vapor barrier within a vented crawlspace.
